Fantasy Baseball: Week 10 Waiver wire pick-ups.

By Lawrence Barreca. The 10th week of the baseball season has arrived, and, as always, new players thrive each week. Memorial Day marked the one-third point of the year, and many names have both improved and diminished. Here are my Week 10 "Hot" Waiver Wire Pickups:

Infielders:

* Kevin Millar (BAL) (1B)—Kevin Millar began the year as the cleanup hitter for the Orioles. However, his average struggled and he was shuffled throughout the lineup.  It seems as though that this shuffling may have worked.

Millar is now hitting .246, with eight homers, 25 RBI, and 27 runs scored.  Those numbers are much improved compared to...

2008 Fantasy Football rankings: Tight Ends!

One of the more challenging decisions in putting your fantasy team together is trying to figure out when the best time is to draft a tight end. The problem with tight ends is that most of them are not the featured target in a team’s passing game.

The separation between the good tight ends and the great tight ends is largely in the touchdown production. That is why Tony Gonzalez’s value has declined in recent years.
He is still getting a lot of receptions and yards, but fewer touchdowns. In fantasy football, you usually get one point for every 10 yards receiving, as opposed to six points for one touchdown scored.

Therefore, Gonzalez and Davis lose value, because even if they have eight catches for 80 yards, they lose out to a tight end with three catches for 30 yards and one touchdown.

NOTE: These rankings are for seasonal (re-draft) leagues only.

2008 Fantasy Rookies: Wide receivers

By Doug Troxtell & Derek Lofland. Rookie Wide Receivers rarely make a big impact, even the ones that eventually become stars. There are players like Anquan Boldin, Joey Galloway, and most notably Randy Moss that exploded onto the scene as rookies. For all others, the transition from the college game to the pro game is very difficult, even for the most talented college wide receivers.

This year, the rookie WR corps was weak, but a few prospects might be able to make an immediate impact...
