Best 2008 Fantasy QBs: How high to draft them?

By Derek Lofland. One of the biggest errors that people make when selecting a fantasy quarterback is not that they select a bad quarterback itself. Most people are going to get a quarterback that is going to put up ONLY good numbers.

The problem in selecting a quarterback is the value. They select a quarterback way too high, and in the process they sacrifice great running backs or wide receivers that could help their team more.
Find out what it takes for a Qb to succeed....

How many yards should you expect out of a top-tier QB?
How many TDs and what QB rating?
What are the three factors that have permitted QBs to succeed in the past (full stats table provided)?
Based on that, who will be this year's sure-fire QBs, the riskiest one of all and a couple of sleepers?

2008 Preview: AFC West

The AFC West was probably the most disappointing division in 2007.  AFC West teams combined to go 10-22 on the road and had a combined 14-26 record out of the division.  The Chargers were expected to compete for the Super Bowl after going 14-2 in 2006.  They started 5-5, before winning their last six games to close the season and advance to the AFC Championship Game.

The Denver Broncos were a big player in free agency and were supposed to compete with the Chargers for the division.  They were a very disappointing 7-9.  The Chiefs were going through a youth moment and while making the playoffs again was not necessarily expected, they fell from 9-7 to 4-12.

Finally, you have the Raiders who actually exceeded many people’s expectations, but just didn’t have enough talent to win more than four games.

The AFC West has been owned by the San Diego Chargers the last couple of seasons.  Here is how I see the 2008 season playing out in the AFC West.

Fantasy baseball: week 13 Start/Sit

By John Arias. Week 13 Start/Sit column is here!

J.D. Drew, BOS:
Everyone was wondering when the Red Sox were going to make a trade for a player, when David Ortiz went down. Well that player was already on the team. J.D. Drew has had the best start to June than any player in the Major Leagues. In June, Drew has 17 RBI and is hitting .440. Look for him to continue his success in week 13....

Fantasy baseball: Week 13 waiver Wire

By Lawrence Barreca. With the arrival of Week 13, Interleague play continues on throughout the MLB, giving many players a chance to play in multiple positions. This, in turn, will greatly help their fantasy value. Here are my Week 13 "Hot" Waiver Wire Pickups...

Jose Bautista (3B) (PIT) -  Bautista has shown a bit of power lately for the Bucs, as he is now at seven homers on the year.  His average sits at .260, with 29 RBI, 27 runs scored, and a stolen base.  Bautista would make a nice injury-reserve player for Week 13, especially since he began hitting the ball with some pop...
